Here’s a quote from Jeff that should be valuable to anyone:
“We are stubborn on vision and flexible on details.”
I take this to mean:
First, stick with what you want to achieve. Don’t reduce the target. One leader I know expresses it this way: “Don’t let others water-down your vision.”
Second, be flexible in your approach. How you go about reaching the objective will change with new information, technology, and skills. You and the team are constantly learning new ways to get things done. Believe in your ability to figure it out.
As you wrap up this year ask yourself:
How well did you keep your objectives in front of you and top of mind? Did you sometimes drift off course or even forget your dreams?
What seemed to work for you? What adjustments do you need to make?
Be stubborn about what you want. But be flexible about how to get there.
And you thought Jeff was just good for online groceries and gifts.
