If you want to build a great team, you need to have some belief.
Start with dropping limiting beliefs like:
- Nobody wants to work anymore
- This next generation is a mess
- It’s not like it used to be
There may be elements of truth, but let me ask you, does buying into limiting beliefs like those actually help? No and hell no.
Let’s swap out limiting beliefs for some better ones like:
- Just a few great people can transform the team.
- People want to work for great companies and leaders – that’s what we can have here!
- The good old days were not perfect, there’s lots of things that are better today than back then.
Next you will want to add in some good beliefs about yourself like:
- I am a good person to be working for and with.
- People are lucky to be part of this team.
And also add in some beliefs about the organization:
- This company can provide a lot of opportunity to those who choose to apply themselves.
- We are poised to create something really special here.
Any positive outcome requires some positive thinking. It’s very difficult to create anything good with lousy thinking. It’s true for life and it is true for the teams you wish to create.
Continually work on your belief. Believe you are a great leader and helping people experience great opportunities. Or don’t. Either way you will be right.
