Olympic gymnastics is hyper-focused on whether an athlete “sticks” the landing. One little wiggle can mean the difference between gold, silver, or even not medaling at all. The judges harp on that last little bit, because all the athletes at the Olympics are great.

Luckily, most of life does not work like that. Our success does not depend on tenths of a point awarded by a judge. Perfection is not required.

There is no perfect time.

There is no perfect resolution.

There is no perfect result.

Let alacrity be your watchword. Move fast with enthusiasm. Do not over-complicate things for yourself. Don’t let your team do it, either.

Get down the track. Hit that vault and trust yourself to be excellent, even if you fail to be perfect.
