The current US administration has recently softened its anti-domestic oil stance with the rise in gas prices. But US oil producers have indicated it could take a while to produce enough to make an impact. Some of the reasons for this are practical (ex. it takes time to increase drilling and fracking operations). Some of the reasons are due to policies (ex. lease sales and pipeline permits have been delayed).

But probably the biggest reason it might take some time to see strong output from US producers is lack of trust that the current administration really wants to work with US oil companies.

Trust is a critical part of leadership and organizational success.

With trust, teams can do nearly anything. Without trust, it’s nearly impossible to get anything done.

Building trust is not rocket science. Actions speak louder than words. Do what you say you will do. Demonstrate that you have other people’s best interest in mind. Do the right thing even when it is hard.

If you have done some things that might have eroded trust, go back and see if you can address it.

The world needs some good energy right now. Leaders we can trust will help. Start with you.
