It takes guts to improve and grow.

The leaders I work with have all demonstrated that courage.

Because it takes guts to:

Be open to coaching from someone they just met

Asking people to give their feedback in a confidential 360

Talking about areas for improvement frankly with their boss

Going public with their goals for improvement with peers and direct reports

Even if you are not in an active coaching program, you should be taking actions that (while they may be uncomfortable) help you to grow.

Your courage will give others permission to be courageous too. With courage people will:

Try new things

Look for new information about themselves

Drop the façade of perfection

Let go of old identities and assumptions

And that’s how leaders and teams go from average to super.
