It’s easy for a team to focus on the negative and all the things that still need to be improved. This can lead to burnout and feeling overwhelmed.
Just like there is wisdom in avoiding the trap of deferred happiness (i.e. not being happy until you get that job/house/income/relationship/etc.), leaders need to help the team to avoid the trap of not feeling successful until they have reached some level of perfect.
The business can always be bigger. Systems can always be improved.
What milestones can you celebrate today? What can you plan to celebrate in the next six months? One year?
Leaders should help their teams to be in a constant state of celebration and improvement. It is a good way to live and a good way to run a company.
